How to Draw a Trendline
This is a recording of the How to Draw a Trend Line Surgery presented in January 2021
Chartists use trend lines to portray the supply and demand that is driving market prices. But the art of drawing them is subjective. There are schools of thought amongst technical analysts as to what is allowed and what is not. Join up the closes or highs and lows? No breaches in a line allowed for it to be valid? At what point is a line actually broken? Trevor Neil will discuss these and other points and clarify the thinking improve your success rate in drawing and evaluating trend lines correctly. He will discuss his own rules and approach using colour, solid/dashed and line thickness to show visually the power and likely reliability of the line. He will also suggest a systematic, rule-based (and therefore programmable and testable) technique for drawing trend lines. This is a section from his Advanced Technical Analysis in the Dealing Room course.
